Viduthalai Story

Vetrimaaran directed the crime thriller viduthalai tamil movie in 2022, which is based on Jeyamohan’s short story Thunaivan. The movie features Vijay Sethupathi, Soori, and Gautham Vasudev Menon as the main characters, along with Bhavani Sre, Prakash Raj, and Chetan in supporting roles.

The Viduthalai Tamil Movie soundtrack is composed by Ilaiyaraaja, and Viduthalai is the first collaboration for Vetrimaaran and Ilaiyaraaja. The movie story is adapted from the short story Thunaivan, written by Jeyamohan. The movie was produced by Elred Kumar under the banner of RS Infotainment.

Story

In the movie, Vijay Sethupathi portrays Perumal Vathiyar, an activist who mobilizes people against the government. The authorities have set up a specialized unit, “Operation Ghost Hunt,” to capture him, and they have established a base in his village. Soori plays an assistant police officer who faces various difficulties and indignities on the job. The film revolves around the challenges and obstacles he encounters as he strives to succeed. Through the perspectives of Vijay Sethupathi and Soori’s characters, the movie explores a variety of themes.

Movie Info

Initially, the viduthalai tamil movie crew had chosen Bharathiraja to play the character of Perumal Vathiyar, and they began filming in the Sathyamangalam forest with him. However, due to health concerns, Bharathiraja withdrew from the project, and the filmmakers subsequently approached several other actors for the role. Eventually, they decided to cast Vijay Sethupathi in the role of Perumal Vathiyar.

Release

After several protests, Viduthalai was finally released on March 31, 2023. The film was distributed by Red Giant Movies throughout Tamil Nadu. Zee 5 acquired the OTT streaming rights for the movie, while Kalaignar Television acquired its digital rights.
